Atlanta Georgia Real Estate | Atlanta GA homes | Living in Atlanta GA

Atlanta , A Homebuyers Dream!

Atlanta has become quite a metropolitan city and a sought-after place to live.  Many joke that it is a northern city plopped down in the middle of the south.  It is true that you may meet quite a number of residents before you actually run across someone that was born and raised here!  Atlanta and the outlying suburbs have become a real estate mecca for homebuyers from all over the country who want to invest in real estate or buy a home.

Many snowbirds that moved to Florida for milder temperatures are packing up and buying homes in NW Georgia.  They head back north but only make it half-way back settling in the Atlanta area.  Georgians refer to them affectionately as "half-backs".   Skyrocketing home prices, insurance and taxes have driven many Floridians to pursue   real estate in Atlanta finding affordable housing, lower taxes and mountain scenery!

Of the top five cities with the most Fortune 500 Headquarters, Atlanta is number 3 on  the list.  Some of these Fortune 500 companies include The Home Depot, Coca-Cola Company, United Parcel Service and Delta Air Lines.   There are also many Fortune 1000 companies: Equifax, Georgia Gulf Corp, and Gold Kist are just a few.

Atlanta now boasts Hartsfield-Jackson Airport which is being called the busiest airport in the world.  The airport consists of 4700 acres and has 240,000 people pass through it every day.  The annual regional economic impact of the airport is over $19 billion  which also makes the airport a global economic force.

Besides being an economic force, Atlanta has also become a  sports fan's paradise. The city has franchises in every major sports league in the nation.  One team that has consistently garnered national attention is the Atlanta Braves.  This team has earned 14 consecutive division titles while playing to the hometown fan's tomahawk chop.

Another reason for buying a home in Atlanta is the fairly temperate weather.  The average daytime temp during winter is mid 50's with lows in the 30's at night.  Summer days average high 80's and low 70's at night.  You don't have to worry about missing out on  Fall color, Atlanta will not disappoint in that area.  If you travel 30 minutes north into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mtns,  you will be assaulted by breathtaking post-card scenes from every window in your car.  Spring is another vision to behold  when the city busts out in bloom with azaelas, bradford pear, dogwoods, and other native foliage.
