Woodstock GA - A Great Place to Live!
Woodstock is over 100 yrs old - one of Cherokee County's oldest towns. The railroad came first and brought along a population of about 300 people. Next gristmills and craftsmen followed and the city continued to grow. Today the city is the fastest growing community in Cherokee County. Interstate 575 and Hwy 92 run directly through the heart of the city and offer easy access and retail convenience to residents.
Woodstock is the southernmost city in Cherokee County and borders Cobb County and Fulton County. The city of Woodstock is really divided into two main areas: Downtown Woodstock and the Towne Lake Area. Also Woodstock has 5 parks, several shopping centers, sought-after schools, and as I already mentioned easy interstate access on 575 at exit 7 and exit 8.
Downtown Woodstock is currently going through a renovation--Hedgewood Developers are building Craftsman style homes and townhomes in the center of the city--surrounded by proposed boutiques and restaurants. Several streets are to be diverted and turned into brick walkways so that the downtown area will once again become a pedestrian only site with gas street lamps and boutique store fronts. This area is attracting active adults as well as young families that enjoy the small town environment and convenience of shops and restaurants within walking distance.
Towne Lake is located several miles north of Downtown Woodstock and is comprised of several very large developments that are built along a tree-lined avenue and offer just about every style of home you could wish for. The larger neighborhoods located here are: Towne Lake Hills, Eagle Watch, The Arbors, The Fairways, and Wyngate. These neighborhoods stand out from most because of the fantastic amenities they offer. Many have olympic size pools, very large tennis complexes, play grounds and gorgeous golf courses with clubhouses. Several of these developments have all of the above.
Education in the area has consisted of award-winning schools for many years and contributes to the school system being a big draw to young families. The affordability of the area is of course another big attraction for all. Homes in Woodstock, Towne Lake and surrounding areas can start in the high 100's and go up from there - golf course lots in amenity rich Towne Lake communities being the priciest of the home sales. Recreational sports area alive and well with tennis, soft ball, baseball and water sports all available in the community. Lake Allatoona meanders throughout the area as well as the LIttle River and the Etowah River. Downtown Atlanta is a 30 minute drive straight up 575 (not in rush hour!) and hospitals and medical facilities can be found right in Towne Lake, as well as several grocery stores, fitness clubs and a movie theater complex.
